a5c7b9f00b Deeply ensconced in a top-secret military program, three pilots struggle to bring an artificial intelligence program under control before it initiates the next world war. In the near future, the Navy develops a fighter jet piloted by an artificial intelligence computer. The jet is placed on an aircraft carrier in the Pacific to learn combat manuevers from the human pilots aboard. But when the computer develops a mind of its own, it's the humans who are charged with stopping it before it incites a war... In the near future, human pilots are about to become obsolete. You will watch the three stars of 'Stealth' hop from locale to locale across the globe to prevent WW3. 'Stealth' is a straightforward summer popcorn film. If you are looking for a pure action film, Stealth does not disappoint. The plot is almost nonexistent but the action more than makes up for it. The way that EDI goes haywire wasn't surprising, but was not cliché.

EDI the robot is over the top, but not unrealistic. Even the futuristic 'Talon' fighter that the stars fly in this film is based off of the Lockheed X-29 Switchblade. Real aircraft carriers were used and helped lend this movie an added sense of realism. The camera work and CGI are top notch.

If you are looking for a film that follows the basic recipe to a decent action flick, then go rent 'Stealth' when it becomes available on DVD. A little 2001, a little Top Gun, a little Black Hawk Down, a little Dark Star, and - dagnabbit - more than a little Team America in this mix.

There's not much you need to know. Go in expecting to see a comedy, because that's what it appears to be a lot of the time. The flight stuff is fairly kinetic, the explosions are suitably big, and the out-of-control A.I. is suitably loopy. Romance doesn't really get in the way of the plot, and there's enough stuff to keep a big grin on your face for the full two hours.

A paycheck for everyone involved, and an entertaining (if mindless) diversion for you. I will say this - as dumb as it gets, it never gets too boring, which is quite a compliment. As for calling this Rob Cohen film 'Stealth' - how ironic. If the Navy is looking for splashy recruiting tools, it could do worse than Stealth, a zillion-dollar action movie stuffed with futuristic jet fighters, glamorous carrier pilots and an overload of explosive, mostly digital derring-do. Their is no official service wide policy in effect in peacetime. Whether or not officers and enlisted personnel wear dress uniform, uniform of the day or civilian clothing to frequent bars and nighclubs while overseas and off duty. Then it is always up to the discretion of the commanding officer of each command/unit/ship/submarine to set forth the uniform of the day requirements regarding how service members will be attired while off duty and mixing with the local civilian population. Keep in mind that whenever in uniform American service members are representing their nation and should always be on their best behavior. While stationed in the USA then uniform requirements are often relaxed for local commands including those stationed in Alaska and Hawaii. For naval personnel, dress whites are always difficult to keep clean the majority of the time.
